About Rachel Mathers
Biography
Dr. Mathers is from League City, TX, a suburb of Houston. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science with honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 2004. She completed her medical degree with honors from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX (UTMB) in 2008 and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society. She completed a combined residency in Internal Medicine and General Preventive Medicine at UTMB in 2013, serving as the General Preventive Medicine chief resident from 2011-12. During residency, she also completed her Master in Public Health at UTMB in 2012. Following residency, she worked in private practice in primary care with Health by Design in Texas City, TX and telehealth with the Amwell Medical Group. After 9 years in private practice, she completed a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX in 2023. Her clinical interests are focusing on an integrative approach to palliative care in the outpatient and home-based setting.
