Assistant professor of medicine John D. Osborne, Ph.D., will contribute to the R21 grant “Comprehensive Assessment of Delirium Risk due to Medications.”
Delirium, also known as acute confusional state, affects up to 7 million hospitalized older adults annually and is associated with long-term declines in cognition and function.
Osborne will assist with data cleaning and extraction as part of this grant. The secondary data analysis for this effort will apply machine learning data mining methods to a large electronic health record database, with over a decade of assessments examining the risk of delirium due to medication.
