Jason "Jay" Ashley, MBA, was announced as the new Joint Health Science Administrative Director ll in the UAB Department of Microbiology, effective Feb. 10, 2025.

Dear Colleagues,
It is with great pleasure and confidence that I announce Jason "Jay" Ashley, MBA, as Joint Health Science Administrative Director ll in the UAB Department of Microbiology, effective Feb. 10, 2025.
Jay has been with UAB for a total of 15 years, having been promoted through various financial positions in the Department of Pathology and most recently holding the role of Financial Officer lll in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurobiology. Prior to his tenure at UAB, he worked for five years in public accounting. In addition to his career history at UAB, Jay is also an alumnus, having graduated from UAB with both his Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
With more than two decades of experience in financial management, accounting, research administration, and human resources, Jay is a detail-oriented professional who effectively demonstrates strong leadership qualities and collaborative skills to direct cross-functional teams for improved efficiency and processes. His highly analytical and intuitive thinking will be an asset to the Department of Microbiology, and I have the utmost confidence that Jay will help fulfill our research, educational, and service missions aligning with both our department and Heersink School of Medicine as a whole.
