“It is a tremendous honor to be named the next Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education and Designated Institutional Official for UAB Medicine. I have had the good fortune to serve as residency program director under Dr. Gustavo Heudebert’s exceptional leadership— he has been a wonderful mentor and role model to me as well as countless other program directors, faculty, fellows and residents. I am committed to building on the strong foundation he has created. Dr. Heudebert’s hard work, vision and expertise have raised the already high standard for graduate medical education at UAB Medicine,” Goepfert said. “I look forward to working with UAB Medicine leadership and our outstanding GME Office staff, program directors and program coordinators in continuing to provide the highest quality clinical training in a supportive learning environment for our future generation of physician leaders.”
Goepfert previously served as Obstetrics and Gynecology clerkship director, clinical co-director for the Reproductive Systems Module, and director for the Patient, Doctor, and Society Module. She has served as the director of education in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program since 2009. She’s also been an active member of the Dean’s Council for Graduate Medical Education (DCGME) since 2011, and serving on the council’s executive committee since 2014.
