The UAB Montgomery Regional Medical Campus is sponsoring the inaugural Montgomery Health Policy meeting. The meeting will feature the annual Kennamer Lecture and bring together prominent leaders from across the country to discuss various issues facing the state of Alabama. The event is taking place Thursday, April 13, 2023, at 9 a.m.
The distinguished speakers include:
Steven Reed
Reed serves as mayor of Montgomery, Alabama.
Bryan Stevenson
Stevenson is the founder and executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI), a human rights organization in Montgomery, Alabama. His work focuses on challenging excessive and unfair sentencing, confronting abuse of the incarcerated and the mentally ill, and exonerating innocent death row prisoners.
Geeta Nayyar, M.D., MBA
Nayyar is the chief medical officer at Salesforce, where she works diligently to ensure the integration of data throughout the health care system. This is accomplished by her efforts to combine clinical medicine, business intelligence, and digital health to deliver high-quality care that each patient deserves.
Marc J. Kahn, M.D., MBA, MACP, FRCP
Kahn serves as dean of the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine and vice president for Health Affairs at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where he also serves as a professor of Medicine. His research interests include non-malignant hematology, medical education, and the business of medicine.
The 2023 Kennamer Lecture and Keynote Address speaker:
David C. Whitcomb M.D., Ph.D.
Whitcomb is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Pittsburgh, where he pioneered the use of mathematics, genetics, neurosciences, immunology, and epidemiology. He has thoroughly studied complex inflammation and cancer risks with a focus on how it affects the pancreas.
