The Marnix E. Heersink Institute for Biomedical Innovation held a Grand Rounds presentation with speaker Vitaly Herasevich, M.D., Ph.D., M.Sc., professor of Anesthesiology and Medicine in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, Division of Critical Care, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, on May 15, 2023.
Herasevich's long-term interest is applied clinical informatics in fast-paced hospital environments, such as the ICU and OR. He designs, develops, and tests clinical informatics tools in acute care settings, such as clinical data representation (novel patient-centered EMR), decision support and alerting systems for early detection of critical syndromes, and hospital-wide surveillance.
In this Grand Rounds presentation, Herasevich speaks on the need for a systematic approach to the evaluation of technology in healthcare as well as how to objectively differentiate useful innovation and clever marketing in health information technology. Tune into the recorded seminar to learn more.
