The Mary Heersink Institute for Global Health hosted guest seminar speaker Albert Manasyan, M.D., MPH, associate professor in the UAB Department of Pediatrics and head of the Department of Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health at the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ), on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
With over 10 years of experience in Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (RMNCH), Manasyan established and heads the RMNCH department for CIDRZ, and under his leadership, it has implemented successful programs and research studies, contributing to national guidelines in Zambia. The department's research encompasses neonatal hypothermia, preterm birth, HIV diagnosis in early infants, safe motherhood, post-partum hemorrhage, STI screening for pregnant women and adolescent girls, and cervical cancer.
