Adam Agee has been named director of Information Technology for the Heersink School of Medicine, effective December 1, 2023. In this role, Agee leads Medical Education Information Services (MEIS) in its mission to guide, procure, develop, support, manage, and secure all aspects of information technology for the Heersink School of Medicine’s faculty, staff, and students.
Agee is an established information technology professional with over 13 years of experience in the higher education and academic medical center fields. He also has deep roots at UAB, both professionally and personally—he earned his B.S. in Computer Science and M.S. in Management Information Systems from UAB, his mother is a UAB alumnus, and his father is a retired sergeant of the UAB Police Department.
Agee employs a wide breadth of skills to optimize the school’s information technology for MEIS’ constituents. He has developed and maintained numerous applications for the Heersink School of Medicine and currently serves as the school’s representative to the AAMC’s Group on Information Resources. He formerly served as assistant director of Information Technology.
Agee has served as interim director of Information Technology since June 2023, when he stepped in to lead MEIS after the death of longtime director of Information Technology John Taylor.
“I am truly honored and humbled take on this new role and build upon the tremendous legacy of my late mentor and predecessor, John Taylor,” Agee said. “I am grateful for my team and everything they have done to get us this far. I look forward to further serving the school and leading MEIS to achieve our ultimate goal of ushering in the next generation of technologies and services that will empower the school for years to come.”
