UAB Heersink School of Medicine is delighted to announce that Tiago Colicchio, M.D. has been elected as a Fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association (FAMIA). This prestigious honor reflects his outstanding contributions and dedication to the field of medical informatics.
FAMIA recognizes exceptional professionals who apply their informatics expertise to enhance personal and population health, improve organizational performance and learning, and empower individuals in healthcare. Being elected as a Fellow signifies Colicchio's exemplary application of informatics skills, demonstrated achievement and leadership, and significant contributions to the advancement of AMIA.
“For the past three decades, the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) has promoted a sense of community for informaticians in the U.S. and around the world. I have been a member of AMIA since 2016 and have seen their tireless dedication to collaboratively advance the field of informatics and to improve biomedical research, clinical work, and health care outcomes. It has been career defining to be part of the AMIA community and now a humbling honor to be inducted as a Fellow of AMIA (FAMIA),” Colicchio said.
A formal induction ceremony will celebrate this achievement at the AMIA 2025 Clinical Informatics Conference, scheduled for May 20-22 in Anaheim, California.
