UAB Callahan Eye's newest clinic includes an optical shop.UAB Callahan Eye has expanded to Homewood with the addition of a new clinic located at One Independence Plaza, Suite 700. This new clinic, which opened in February, is the 19th location in Callahan’s growing portfolio of ophthalmic and optometric care.

John Owen, MD, serves patients with exceptional and expert comprehensive care and vision services at the Homewood clinic. Dr. Owen received his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology residency at UAB's Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and his pediatric ophthalmology fellowship at Indiana University. With 37 years of experience in ophthalmic practice, Dr. Owen has been a welcomed addition to the UAB Callahan Eye network.

The Homewood clinic offers patients access to comprehensive eye care and includes an on-site optical store. Patients who visit the clinic will receive services including family eye care, eye exams, cataract evaluations, glaucoma screenings, cornea diagnosis and treatment, and contact lens evaluations. All Callahan Eye patients are eligible to receive a 15 percent discount on all sunglasses and eyeglasses.
