UAB Ophthalmology welcomes new faculty - Dr. Krupa Patel and Dr. Mehdi Tavakoli.

Dr. Krupa Patel has joined our full-time faculty and clinical team. Dr. Patel will be specializing in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus. Dr. Patel grew up in Ohio where she completed medical school at Northeast Ohio Medical University and her ophthalmology residency from Summa Health, and then went on to finish her pediatric ophthalmology fellowship in Indianapolis at Riley Hospital for Children. This is an American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus approved fellowship. 

We welcome Dr. Mehdi Tavakoli to our full-time faculty and clinical team. Dr. Tavakoli, an Assistant Professor at UAB, is an ophthalmologist with a special interest in neuro­-ophthalmology, pediatric ophthalmology, adult strabismus, and lids and orbital surgery. He received four years of clinical and research fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology, pediatric ophthalmology, and oculoplastics at the University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
