About the TBIMS
The Traumatic Brain Injury Model Systems (TBIMS) program, sponsored by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR), which is a Center within the Administration for Community Living and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, supports innovative projects and research in the delivery, demonstration, and evaluation of medical, rehabilitation, vocational, and other services designed to meet the needs of individuals with traumatic brain injury.

NIDILRR awards TBI Model Systems grants to institutions that are national leaders in medical research and patient care; these institutions provide the highest level of comprehensive specialty services from the point of injury through eventual re-entry into full community life.

About the UAB-TBIMS
The University of Alabama at Birmingham Taumatic Brain Injury Model System (UAB-TBIMS) is one of 16 national TBIMS located throughout the U.S. We are currently operating via a 5 year grant (#90DPTB0015) from 2016 - 2021 and have been continually funded since 1998. The UAB Department Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, which is located at Spain Rehabilitation Center in Birmingham, AL, is the hub for the UAB-TBIMS.
