2023 Clinical and Research Undergraduate Summer Programs Application
Directions
To complete this online application you will need to have the following ready to upload since it is not possible to save your application and come back to complete it later.
1. Statement of Academic Interest and Career Goals. Describe your previous research experience (if any), scientific areas of interest, hobbies, and future education and career goals. Two pages maximum (be sure to include specific interest in program(s) that you are applying to) - PDF uploads best.
2. Resume - PDF uploads best.
3. Contact Information for faculty who are writing your letters of recommendation (name, institution/department, email address). When inputting email addresses, they should be typed in - do not copy and paste.
4. Transcript: To maintain your privacy, transcripts should not be uploaded. Instead, please mail or email yours to the address below. We accept official or unofficial transcripts, and they should include Fall 2022 grades. You should not wait for it to become available before you submit your application - transcripts can be sent in separately any time prior to the February 28th deadline. If you are accepted into a program, you will be asked to submit an official transcript at that time.

Eligibility Requirements: Eligibility for the UAB SOM Undergraduate Research Programs varies based on the aims of the individual programs and funding sources. Specifically, SIBS, PARAdiGM, Blazer BRAIN, and KURE are restricted to sophomores, juniors, and seniors (i.e., graduating December 2023 or later) who are US Citizens or Permanent Residents. Whereas SURE-GM is only open to sophomores (i.e., rising juniors) who are US Citizens or Permanent Residents. In comparison, the SURE program prefers applicants be sophomores or juniors who are U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents.
Additionally, the following applies:

KURE applicants that demonstrate an interest in kidney, urology, and/or non-malignant hematology research will be given preference

PARAdiGM is restricted to students from disadvantaged or under-represented minority backgrounds. Students enrolled at UAB are NOT eligible.

SIBS is NOT open to students enrolled at UAB.

SURE-GM is restricted to students from disadvantaged or under-represented minority backgrounds

Blazer BRAIN is open to under-represented minorities and students.
Eligible students may apply for one program, or up to 5 programs, by selecting their program(s) of interest from the drop-down menus below. Please rank your program selections from first choice to your fourth choice.

Letters of Recommendation
Please request letters of recommendation from two faculty members who best know your academic work. Enter their names and email addresses below and they will be contacted to submit their letters to us online. Letters of recommendation must be confidential.
