Elizabeth Allen, M.D. received her undergraduate degree from Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, AL followed by medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. She completed her residency at George Washington University in Washington, DC, followed by a breast imaging fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Allen's focus is on clinical breast health.

Ceren Yalniz, M.D., received her medical degree from Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Medical School in Turkey. She finished her residency training in Diagnostic Radiology at Istanbul Haydarpasa Numune Research and Training Hospital. In 2018, she moved to the United States to pursue additional training and education. At MD Anderson Cancer Center, she successfully completed a one-year Breast Imaging fellowship as well as an additional year of Body Imaging fellowship. She then completed a two-year fellowship in Neuroradiology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Stefanie Brecker Zalasin joined UAB in 2022. She was formerly director of Breast Imaging at Yorktown Imaging of Northwell Health in New York since 2015. Previously, she worked in private practice in Manhattan, New York as a breast radiologist specializing in image guided interventional procedures and early cancer detection. Dr. Zalasin is a graduate of a seven year combined Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine degree program, graduated Summa Cum Laude from City College of the City University of New York and graduated from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York earning AOA honors. She completed her internship at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in New York and her diagnostic radiology residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center, where she became chief resident. She went on to a breast and body imaging fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering, in New York. Dr. Zalasin later earned a Masters degree in Healthcare Leadership at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in Manhattan. James C. Walker, Jr. M.D., completed his undergraduate training at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, Alabama followed by medical school at The University of Alabama in Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine. Following a rotating internship at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, he completed his residency training in Diagnostic Radiology at The Baptist Medical Centers in Birmingham (Montclair and Princeton). He then joined The Birmingham Radiological Group, PC where he practiced at The Baptist Medical Centers in Birmingham as well as later at Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper, Alabama, and Citizens Baptist Medical Center in Talladega, Alabama, as well as smaller hospitals that the group covered. Dr. Stefanie Woodard is an associate professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine. Her roles have included associate scientist for UAB's Center for Clinical and Translational Science and assistant program director for the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program. Her education includes a Bachelor of Science from Mercer University and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Diagnostic Radiology residency training at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, where she then stayed to complete a breast imaging fellowship. After fellowship, Dr. Woodard joined Tristan Radiology Specialists where she spent a year in private practice with additional time as a clinical instructor at Hershey Medical Center. Dr. Woodard has received awards such as the Educational Initiative Award and Distinguished Teaching Awards for Excellence in Resident Education. She has served as an assistant editor for the American Journal of Radiology and as an invited guest editor for the Journal of Osteopathic College of Radiology. Dr. Woodard is a member of Association of University Radiologists, Radiological Society of North America, and has served on committees like the RSNA Abstract Review and the SBI Mentorship Subcommittee. At UAB, she has directed courses using Virtual Reality for breast biopsy simulations, been a part of the UAB HealthCare Explorers Program both as the deputy chair in 2021 and as chair in 2023. Dr. Woodard has served on the Clinical Competency Committee, Program Evaluation Committee, Radiology Medical Student Education Committee and the Dean’s Council for Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Woodard was a UAB Innovation Fellow in 2022-2023 and a member of the Health Educator Academy 2021-2023. In the Radiology breast imaging section, responsibilities have involved overseeing the breast MRI program as the director of breast MRI and currently serving as the lead interpreting physician. Dr. Woodard has previously served as the director of medical student breast radiology rotation. She also currently acts as the director of breast imaging radiology resident rotation. Dr. Woodard has been active in research, authoring or co-authoring over 30 publications and poster presentations. Her research has included various subjects in breast imaging, including clip migration during stereotactic biopsies, AI in breast MRI and multiple projects involving a Virtual Reality breast biopsy system. She has also been an invited lecturer, presenting on topics ranging from MRI positioning to breast MRI techniques to positioning in mammography at multiple institutions and national conferences. Dr. Woodard has received grant funding including the Radiology Research Imaging Pilot Award and an investigator-initiated industry-funded grant for AI in breast MRI. Nancy S. Pile, M.D. received her undergraduate degree from the University of the South in Sewanee, TN followed by medical school at Albany Medical College, Albany, NY. She completed her residency at Baptist Medical Center, Birmingham, AL followed by a breast imaging fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Pile joined the Radiology Department at UAB following her fellowship. Dr. Pile has served as Chief of Breast Imaging at the University of Louisville and was the Director of Breast Imaging at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY before coming back to the Radiology Department at UAB where she serves as a Clinical Professor in the Breast Imaging Section. Kathryn Watts Zamora, M.D., received her M.D., and MPH, (Masters in Public Health) from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Dr. Zamora completed an internship in Internal Medicine and residency training in Diagnostic Radiology at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. Following residency, Dr. Zamora pursued additional training with an accredited fellowship in Pediatric Imaging at Miami Children’s Hospital and a second fellowship in Women’s Imaging at Louisiana State University in New Orleans.
