Bernadette Marquez-Nostra, Ph.D.Associate Professor, Advanced Medical Imaging Researchbmarqueznostra@uabmc.edu | (205)-934-2950 | WTI 310C |
Bernadette Marquez-Nostra received her B.S. in Biochemistry from California State University, Fullerton and her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Davis. She conducted her postdoctoral research in Radiochemistry and cancer imaging at Washington University in St. Louis and at UAB. She obtained her first faculty appointment as assistant professor of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at Yale University. She joins UAB as associate professor of Radiology in 2023. Dr. Marquez-Nostra's research focuses on predicting and monitoring response to targeted treatments in various types of cancer. This translational research uses novel imaging probes and/or imaging strategies noninvasively in animal models of cancer. Her goals are to identify novel biomarkers, develop new imaging agents, and to translate these imaging tools to clinical research. She mentors her trainees to use interdisciplinary methods (eg., bioconjugation, radiochemistry, biochemistry, immunobiology) to accomplish these goals and to become independent scientists. Virendra R. Mishra, Ph.D., received his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the Joint Program between The University of Texas at Arlington and The University of Texas at Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX in May 2014. Before joining the Department of Radiology as an associate professor in October 2022, Dr. Mishra was a staff scientist and assistant director of Brain Imaging Core at Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center in Las Vegas, NV, and an adjunct associate professor of Neurology at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Dr. Mishra’s current research interests are in identifying biomarkers of cognitive decline during aging through a novel deep learning approach by utilizing a multimodal approach of using advanced MRI (diffusion MRI, functional MRI, perfusion MRI) measures, serum and CSF measures, demographical information, and genetic markers. Dr. Mishra is also working on standardizing diffusion MRI measures across various protocols and scanners across the various research MRI scanners at UAB. Contact InformationAdministrative Support: |

Yu-Hua Dean Fang, PhD is currently an Associate Professor of Radiology and adjunct faculty of Neurology in University of Alabama at Birmingham. His research is focused on image quantification and analysis. A major field of application is on the kinetic modeling analysis for PET imaging. He has also been extensively involved in image processing of CT, MR and SPECT while the clinical areas include Neurology, Oncology and Cardiology. He recently joined UAB Radiology in September, 2019 and aims to establish a strong image analysis group here. Having been working on algorithm and software development for nearly 20 years, Dr. Fang is interested in new collaboration on image processing and scientific computation in UAB. All ideas are welcome! |
