Michael V. Yester, Ph.D., DABR, FACR, FAAPM obtained a B.S. in Physics from Christian Brothers College, Memphis, TN, in 1966, followed by a Ph.D., in Physics from Iowa State University, Ames, IA, in 1972.   After a postdoctoral fellowship at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, in the Nuclear Chemistry Division, he was an Instructor in the Medical Physics and Radiation Safety Division at West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV.

After completing training in Medical Physics, he joined the Radiology Department at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1976 and had primary clinical responsibility in Nuclear Medicine.   In 2002, he became Director of the Physics and Engineering Division.

Dr. Yester is active in the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, has served on the American College of Radiology Mammography Accreditation Physics Subcommittee and currently serves on the Nuclear Medicine Accreditation Physics subcommittee. He is also on the American Board of Radiology Nuclear Medicine Physics Exam Committee.

His current interests involve dual energy CT, PET, dual energy mammography, and bone densitometry.

Dr. White teaches radiologic physics to the residents. She has also developed a radiation biology course for the residents.

Johnny W. Scott, M.D., Ph.D. completed his undergraduate training and medical school training at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, after which he completed his residency training in Nuclear Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, later joining the faculty in the Division of Nuclear Medicine

Dr. Scott heads the Nuclear Medicine Division at the Birmingham VA Medical Center and is experienced in a wide range of radionuclide imaging procedures.  He also works in the area of radionuclide laboratory analysis of blood and other body fluids.  He is presently VISN7 Nuclear Medicine Consultant for the Southeast region.

Eva V. Dubovsky, M.D., Ph.D. completed her undergraduate and medical school training at Charles University, Prague, after which she completed her residency training in Nuclear Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, later joining the faculty in the Division of Nuclear Medicine.

Dr. Dubovsky previously served as Director of Nuclear Medicine, she presently serves as the Assistant Chief of the Nuclear Cardiology Section and Professor Emeritus of Nuclear Medicine.  She is a nationally distinguished figure whose special areas of interest include radionuclide evaluation of renal transplant recipients and patients with renovascular hypertension.  She is regarded as an excellent teacher by the residents and her review sessions are considered indispensable by seniors preparing for the oral boards, and has served as an oral board examiner for the American Board of Radiology.
