Daniel W. Young, M.D. has Undergraduate training at Occidental College and a BA degree from the College of Arts and Sciences at Loma Linda University. He graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1978. He took Internship and Residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center from 1978 - 1982. He became board certified in Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology in 1982.
From 1982 to 1985, Dr. Young was an officer in the USAF MC. He served as a Captain as well as a Major. His duty assignments included Eglin AFB, Florida and Ellsworth AFB, SD. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal.
From 1985 to 1987, Dr. Young was a fellow in Pediatric Radiology at Boston Children's Hospital (Harvard Medical School).
From 1987 to the present, he has been a Pediatric Radiologist with Pediatric Radiology Associates. He has served on the Clinical Faculty at UAB. He is involved in resident training for UAB and the Baptist Hospital Radiology Residency Programs. He is currently Clinical Professor of Radiology and Pediatrics at UAB.
In 1989, Dr. Young was awarded Special Competency in Nuclear Radiology by the American Board of Radiology.
In 1995, Dr. Young was awarded Certificate of Added Qualifications in Pediatric Radiology by the American Board of Radiology. This certificate was renewed in 2004. He is current in the MOC program of the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Radiology and Pediatric Radiology. He recently passed the MOC test in Pediatric Radiology in March 2013.
His current titles include Radiation Safety Officer at the Children's of Alabama, Medical Director of Nuclear Medicine and MRI. He is co-director of Pediatric Radiology Resident Education.
Dr. Young is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology.
