Meet Ali Rezaei, M.D., one of UAB's faculty members in the Department of Radiology.
What is your full name, title, and position?
Ali Rezaei, M.D., a full-time neuroradiology instructor at UAB.
Where are you from?
I am originally from Iran.
Why did you choose to work at UAB?
I chose to work at UAB because of my positive experience with the neuroradiology research program, which showcased the department's exceptional reputation and expertise. During my time there, I was impressed by the variety of complex cases handled and the high caliber of education provided. The faculty, residents, and fellows in neuroradiology are highly knowledgeable and dedicated to advancing the field through clinical practice and rigorous research. This commitment to excellence and a collaborative and innovative environment make UAB an ideal place for me to contribute to and grow.
Why did you choose radiology?
I selected radiology because it is an intellectually challenging discipline. A radiologist must combine comprehensive clinical knowledge of organ anatomy with an individual patient's history and findings to reconstruct pictures into possible diagnoses. Furthermore, diagnostic imaging is about confidence. As radiologists, we are obliged to localize abnormalities and anatomically anomalous areas, provide differential diagnoses, detect normal variations, and safely use potentially lethal radiation.
What are your career interests and goals?
My career goals are centered around excelling in clinical practice, research, and education within neuroradiology. I am committed to working diligently to identify subtle abnormalities that could significantly impact patient outcomes. Additionally, I aim to contribute to the field through research, enhancing diagnostic techniques and treatment approaches. I also aspire to share my knowledge by teaching residents, fellows, and medical students, helping to shape the next generation of clinicians and researchers. Ultimately, I strive to be efficient and impactful in contributing to society, improving patient care, and advancing research-based knowledge in neuroradiology.
What are your professional interests?
Intracranial and spinal cord neoplasms, white matter diseases.
What are your personal hobbies?
Spending time with my family, artificial intelligence (AI), chess, traveling, and photoshooting.
