Samuel Galgano, M.D., vice chair of quality and patient experience, and chief of the abdominal imaging section, has taken on a new role as Associate Medical Director for Quality for the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center Cancer Service Line Quality team.

This role is part of the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center Cancer leadership team, where Galgano and Kelly Godby, M.D., associate professor in the Division of Hematology & Oncology, will oversee the quality structure for the cancer center and their cancer management teams. Through this role, they will function to implement and evaluate multiple QI initiatives and projects and explore future avenues of cancer center quality, including with our affiliate sites.

Godby, Kennedy, and Krontiras will be an immense opportunity to advance the quality of cancer care at UAB and our affiliate sites. I am hopeful that given my background in working with multiple CMTs at UAB will enable us to take successes from one group and translate them to the cancer center as a whole."
