David Gilmore, PA-C, the advanced practice provider supervisor for the Department of Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), was honored with the APP Champion Award.

This prestigious award, established by the Office of Advanced Practice Providers and the Advanced Practice Provider Executive Council in 2023, celebrates advanced practice providers who exemplify UAB's core values and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in patient care.

Gilmore, who has been with UAB's Division of Interventional Radiology since 2017, performs a variety of clinical, administrative, and procedural duties. He became the advanced practice provider supervisor in 2021. His career in health care began after earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Samford University, graduating magna cum laude in 2008, followed by a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from UAB in 2014. Before joining UAB, he worked for Urology Centers of Alabama at St. Vincent’s East Hospital.

Outside of his professional role, Gilmore enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, as well as camping, traveling, playing drums, and trail running. His passion for both patient care and leadership has made him a valuable asset to UAB, and this award is a well-deserved recognition of his contributions.
