Congratulations to Hrudaya Nath, M.D., professor in the cardiopulmonary imaging section, on appointment of professor emeritus of Radiology.
Nath joined the UAB Heersink School of Medicine as Associate Professor of Radiology in 1982, was appointed professor in 1988, and continued his service to the Department of Radiology as professor until his retirement in 2015, after 33 years of loyal and dedicated service.
He served on the UAB Department of Radiology faculty as a cardiopulmonary imager, educator, and researcher. He served as the Director of Cardiovascular MRI from 2009 to present. He mentored many medical students, residents, fellows, junior and senior faculty throughout the entirety of his career. His devotion to the department is also reflected in his service as Chair of the Radiology Resident Selection Committee from 1989-1997, and in his nine years of service as the Chair of the Radiology Appointment, Tenure and Promotions Committee.
His scholarly work includes 176 published articles in peer-reviewed journals, 68 published abstracts, 113 educational exhibits, and 91 invited lectures at local and regional meetings. He has authored seven book chapters.
He has demonstrated longstanding commitment to the academic missions of the Heersink School of Medicine, filling multiple vital roles at our institution.
