Meet Stephanie Colvin, M.D., one of UAB's new faculty members in the Department of Radiology.
What is your full name, title, and position?
Stephanie D. Colvin, M.D., assistant professor in the breast imaging section.
Where are you from?
I am from Cullman, Alabama and grew up on a cattle farm there.
Why did you choose to work at UAB?
I chose to work at UAB because of the value placed on high quality care. I love caring for breast cancer patients and being a part of a referral center. There is strong collegiality amongst the interdisciplinary breast team here. I also love teaching and am thankful to work with the next generation of physicians who will one day take care of all of us.
Why did you choose radiology?
I chose radiology because it is visual and allows me to help physicians and patients come to a diagnosis. I also enjoy being very specialized in one area which radiology has allowed me to do.
What are your career goals?
My top career goal is to be approachable and trusted by those I work with. I am very interested in interdisciplinary breast cancer care. My goal is to provide radiology guidance for our interdisciplinary team, so they can formulate comprehensive treatment plans for our patients. I also hope to educate our trainees, so they can feel confident interpreting breast studies and performing breast biopsies.
What are your professional interests?
All aspects of breast imaging!
What are your personal hobbies?
Spending time with my husband and our sweet sons, cooking, and exercising (especially taking long walks).
