Peter Calabresi, MD, Professor, Department of Neurology, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, examines the effects of inflammation on endogenous remyelination pathways in CNS demyelinating disease. Approximately 100 researchers, clinicians, staff, students, and community members gathered on Friday, June 2, 2017 for the 4th Biennial UAB Multiple Sclerosis Symposium: Immunological and Environmental Considerations. This year’s event brought together leading researchers and clinicians in the MS field focused on three thematic areas: 1) Current Concepts in Remyelination, Neuroprotection, and Immunology, 2) Environmental Considerations in MS, and 3) Therapeutic Updates and Clinical Implications.
The UAB Multiple Sclerosis Symposium aims to identify new avenues of MS research, foster multidisciplinary collaborations, and provide a high quality learning experience regarding issues pertinent to the treatment of MS.
The UAB MS Center hosts this anticipated educational event every other year, with the next to occur in 2019.
