Prepare for an extraordinary night of music when country-folk Americana duo The Secret Sisters perform for the first time with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra on Thursday, April 24.

Alabama’s own The Secret Sisters, featuring siblings Lydia Slagle and Laura Rogers, are known for their effortless harmonies, sharp songwriting and deep love of country music’s rich history.

The Secret Sisters With the Alabama Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by the acclaimed Chris Confessore, presented by the ASO and the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center. This unique blend of Americana and symphonic music promises to be a performance as memorable as it is groundbreaking.

The show is set for 7 p.m. in UAB’s Alys Stephens Center, 1200 10th Ave. South. Tickets are $32.50, $42.50, $55 and $72.50. For tickets, visit AlysStephens.org, go by the ASC Box Office or call 205-975-2787. A limited number of discounted tickets are available for UAB students and employees. Buy tickets.

The Secret Sisters emerged in 2010 and have consistently pushed the boundaries of Americana music. Their style evolved from their old-timey roots to the girl group-infused garage-folk of their 2014 album “Put Your Needle Down.” Their Grammy-nominated LPs produced by Brandi Carlile, “You Don’t Own Me Anymore” (2017) and “Saturn Return” (2020) incorporated elements of both styles. Their latest album, “Mind, Man, Medicine,” released in 2024, showcases their most contemporary sound yet. A self-assured set informed by experiences like motherhood and adjusting to a pandemic, it includes “All the Ways,” a duet with Ray LaMontagne.

The Alabama Symphony Orchestra is a full-time orchestra, passionately pushing the boundaries of music through concert, education and creativity. The ASO began with the first performance by a group of volunteer musicians in 1921 and evolved from a volunteer ensemble to become the state’s only full-time professional orchestra. From UAB’s Alys Stephens Center to Samford University’s Wright Center, to the outdoor Symphony in the Summer Series in Railroad Park, the ASO performs all over the great city of Birmingham. The Alabama Symphony Orchestra entertains, educates and inspires students in schools, concert halls and public venues throughout the state.
