Theatre UAB presents staged reading of new play by Alabama playwright Audrey Cefaly

“Tell Me Something Good” will receive its world-premiere performance by Theatre UAB for its 2019-2020 season.

TellMeSomethingGoodJoomlaTheatre UAB will present a staged reading of a new play, “Tell Me Something Good,” by native Alabamaian playwright Audrey Cefaly.

The staged reading will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, in Birmingham Festival Theatre, 1901 ½ 11th Ave. South. It is presented in conjunction with BFT’s production of Cefaly’s “Maytag Virgin,” opening Feb. 7 and continuing through Feb. 23. 

“Tell Me Something Good” will receive its world-premiere performance by Theatre UAB for its 2019-2020 season, in March 2020. Theatre UAB is the performance company of the College of Arts and SciencesDepartment of Theatre.

Cefaly is an award-winning Southern writer and Alabama native. “Tell Me Something Good” had its first public reading in September 2018 as part of the Kennedy Center’s Page to Stage New Play Festival. Cefaly is a member of the 2019 Playwrights’ Arena cohort at Arena Stage and was recently named a Traveling Master by the Dramatist Guild Foundation. Birmingham audiences may remember Cefaly’s “Love Is a Blue Tick Hound,” which was performed at Terrific New Theatre in 2016. 

The cast for the “Tell Me Something Good” reading will include the playwright; UAB Assistant Professor of Theatre Jack Cannon, MFA; UAB Theatre students Laurel Floen, Allison Nichols and Jackson Perry; and local theater artist Cari Gisler Oliver. Admission is free; seating is limited.
