Jeff Goldblum and The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra performance at the University of Alabama at Birmingham have just been announced.
A costume contest and a new $75 ticket promotion for theGoldblum is the star of the 2019 Viva Health Starlight Gala, happening Saturday, June 2. Presented by the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center, this elegant evening benefits the center’s programming and community outreach and education.
With film credits including “Jurassic Park,” “Independence Day,” “The Fly,” “The Big Chill,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and “Thor: Ragnarok”; theater performances including “The Pillowman,” “Speed the Plow” and “Domesticated”; and television appearances including “Portlandia,” “Inside Amy Schumer,” and “Will & Grace,” Goldblum also plays jazz with his band, The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra.

Few actors working in Hollywood today are as unique, perplexing, eccentric or plain funny as Goldblum. What better way to honor his quirkiness than a Jeff Goldblum costume contest? Winning categories in the costume contest are: Best Jeff Goldblum Look-Alike, Best Jeff Goldblum Character and Best Supporting Character from a Jeff Goldblum film. Need inspiration? The Alys Stephens Center has compiled a list of popular Goldblum appearances to spark entrants’ creativity.
This contest is completely social media-driven. Participants are encouraged to arrive at The Lab Bar and Kitchen, 808 20th St. South, between 6 and 8 p.m. Saturday, May 18. Registration is $5. An ASC staff member will take each participant’s photo and upload it to the Jeff Goldblum Costume Contest Facebook page. Those who like/follow the Alys Stephens Center’s Facebook page will be able to vote by “liking” their favorite photos. Winners will be selected based on the number of “Likes” and announced at 9 p.m. Prizes include ASC membership, tickets to the Viva Health Starlight Gala and more.
New $75 Junior Patron Ticket Package available
A new $75 Junior Patron ticket package is now available for individuals ages 21-39. The ticket includes the pre-performance reception, seating at the show, and admission to the exclusive JPat After Dark Party with live music and complimentary food and beverages. Limit two tickets per transaction, with a valid driver’s license at time of purchase.
All performance tickets include a pre-show cocktail reception at 5 p.m. and seating for the 6 p.m. performance. Tickets are $150 for current Alys Stephens Center members. Non-member tickets are $175. For tickets, call 205-975-2787 or visit www.AlysStephens.org.
