Raise money for UAB student scholarships with Uncork Education on Nov. 7

Enjoy dinner from Perry’s Steakhouse and Department of Music performances. Last year, the UAB National Alumni Society raised nearly $50,000 during its first-ever virtual Uncork Education.

Since its debut, Uncork Education has raised more than $575,000 thanks to the generosity of sponsors and guests. In 2020, the NAS was able to raise nearly $50,000 during its first-ever virtual Uncork Education. 

Uncork Education is presented by the UAB National Alumni Society. The virtual event will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7. Participants will be able to bid in an online auction beginning Wednesday, Nov. 3. See a list of support levels and purchase tickets at alumni.uab.edu.

Levels of support start at $10, and all levels will include access to live virtual performances from the UAB College of Arts and SciencesDepartment of Music, including the UAB Concert Choir and Gospel Choir, Wind Symphony, Symphony Band and Jazz Ensemble, along with additional chamber and solo music.

New for 2021, Uncork Education is partnering with Perry’s Steakhouse to give alumni in Birmingham, Dallas, Houston and Nashville the opportunity to enjoy dinner to-go while watching this year’s event. Dinner selections must be picked up between 3 and 5 p.m. CST Nov. 7, in time to enjoy the virtual concert while eating in the comfort of your home. 

2021 Uncork Education levels of support include:

Level 1, $10: music
Level 2, $25: music and two wine glasses
Level 3, $100: music and dinner for one
Level 4, $190: music and dinner for two
Level 5, $360: music and dinner for four
Level 6, $540: music and dinner for six 

Up for bid in the online auction beginning Wednesday, Nov. 3:

  • Week in Seacrest Beach: A seven-night Saturday-to-Saturday stay at “Lucky Nuff,” a four-bedroom, four-bath, two-level beach house featuring balconies, two master suites, brand-new floors and downstairs furniture, a 12,000-square-foot community pool, and bikes for family use. Within walking distance of Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach. (Not available between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend.)
  • Lake Martin Getaway: A two-night stay at the Willow Point Golf and Country Club. Includes one room for two nights. Friday dinner and breakfast on Saturday at the club, self-guided pontoon boat cruise on Lake Martin (boat license required), lunch at Kowaliga Restaurant, golf for two at Willow Point Golf and Country Club (includes cart), Saturday dinner at SpringHouse, guided trail horse ride through Russell Forest, and Sunday brunch at SpringHouse. All meals are for two. Meals exclude alcohol, taxes and gratuity. 
  • Thanksgiving dinner for 12 from Corretti Catering:
    Florentine house salad with mixed greens, grape tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles, pecans and house-made balsamic dressing
    Stuffed turkey with cornbread dressing, cranberry sauce and turkey gravy
    Green bean casserole
    Sweet potato casserole
    Rolls
    White chocolate bread pudding with whiskey sauce
