PRISM is presented by the College of Arts and SciencesDepartment of Music. The all-department concert will feature faculty and student solo and ensemble performances, including choral, band, piano, voice, computer and chamber music.

This is the third PRISM concert, and the first since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The concert is set for 7 p.m. in the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center’s Jemison Concert Hall. Tickets are $25, $15 for UAB employees, and free for students. For tickets, call 205-975-2787 or visit AlysStephens.org.

PRISM is the Department of Music’s big showcase concert, says Professor Patrick Evans, D.M., department chair. The concert includes the majority of the department’s performing faculty, as well as most of its large student ensembles and a few small chamber groups.

“We had great momentum with our first two PRISM concerts in 2018 and 2019, but of course were unable to have them the last two years,” Evans said. “The Department of Music faculty and students are incredibly excited to return for this gala concert.”

Evans says the support the department received from UAB during the pandemic inspired him and other faculty to find safe ways to perform during the darkest days of the pandemic.

“Our UAB medical professionals have repeatedly told us that the arts will be important in helping us return to normalcy, and lift our spirits, as the pandemic has taken a toll on our collective mental health,” Evans said. “If you need your spirits lifted, I promise you the PRISM concert will raise the roof and bring you great joy.”
