Come explore the opportunities of applying artificial intelligence in medicine and health care with the University of Alabama at Birmingham during the seventh annual Translational and Transformative Informatics Symposium.
This year’s symposium will be held in the UAB Margaret Cameron Spain Auditorium on Friday, April 21. It will focus on initiatives within informatics research and AI applications in biomedical sciences, clinical decisions and healthcare. The 2023 symposium will offer in-person and online options for attendees.
“The symposium serves as a crucial technical and scientific forum for participants to learn about recent advances, network with colleagues and trainees, and enhance future research, training and application in this critical area,” said Jake Y. Chen, Ph.D., general chair of the ATTIS ’23 and associate director and chief bioinformatics officer of the Informatics Institute in the Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine. “The recent advancements in AI have lit up the world’s imaginations, and AI’s adoption in medicine has accelerated rapidly, leading to future faster drug discovery and more accurate medical diagnosis.”
There will be scientific discussions that cover a wide variety of topics within the AI theme throughout the day, including a keynote presentation from Trey Ideker, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of San Diego. In addition, there will be poster presentations and a tutorial session on language models popularized by AI. Chen says he hopes ATTIS ’23 will provide faculty, postdoctoral trainees, fellows and graduate students the opportunity to generate new ideas for their everyday research and clinical practice.
