Musician, composer and producer David Foster and acclaimed singer, television and Broadway star Katharine McPhee will bring their sensational viral Instagram show to the University of Alabama at Birmingham on Saturday, March 2.
“An Intimate Evening with David Foster and Katharine McPhee” is presented by UAB’s Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center.
Coming directly from their living room to the stage, this is an intimate show with the powerhouse duo. The evening will be packed with Foster’s hits from “Chicago,” Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Michael Bublé and others, and McPhee’s biggest songs from “American Idol,” “Smash” and “Waitress,” plus some of their own favorites.

Foster has won 16 Grammy Awards, including three for Producer of the Year, an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe and three Oscar nominations for Best Original Song. He has earned a reputation as a keen spotter of new talent, playing a key role in the discovery and career
launches of Dion, Groban and Bublé. Foster has created hit songs for an array of artists, including Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire, Andrea Bocelli, Diana Krall, Natalie Cole, Michael Bolton, Seal, Chaka Khan, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Chicago, Hall & Oates, Brandy, ’N Sync, Boz Scaggs, and Gloria Estefan.
McPhee competed in Season 5 of “American Idol.” Her first single debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard’s Hot Singles Sales chart, and her debut album landed on the Billboard 200 chart and went gold in 2008. McPhee is known for her performance in NBC’s award-winning musical series “Smash,” executive produced by Steven Spielberg, and as Paige Dineen on the CBS spy drama “Scorpion,” as well as in the musical “Waitress” on Broadway. She most recently starred in the Netflix Original Series “Country Comfort.”
