University of Alabama at Birmingham can enjoy top-flight entertainment for much less, with discounted and student rush tickets from the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center.
Students at theThe Alys Stephens Center offers $10 student tickets to most performances it presents, available in a limited supply. Coming up are Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Vitamin String Quartet with the music of Taylor Swift and “Bridgerton,” Brian Reed of “S-Town,” Andy Grammer, Alex Cuba, “Napoleon Dynamite Live!” plus The Secret Sisters with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra and more.
The Alys Stephens Center also offers UAB student rush tickets, which are free and available one hour before showtime on a first-come, first-served basis.
New this season is the Pay What You Choose series, designed to offer arts experiences to everyone no matter their budget. These shows still require tickets. See Young Concert Artists Ziggy & Miles, Australian brothers who are masters of classical guitar, this fall, and percussionist Michael Yeung this spring.

The Blazer ONE Card used for purchase must be presented for entry to the event.
Students can enjoy these performances presented by UAB’s Alys Stephens Center at a discounted rate this season. All shows are at 7 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

The Secret Sisters with The Alabama Symphony Orchestra
The Alabama Symphony Orchestra offers discounted $10 and $12 student tickets to most of the concerts in its season held at the Alys Stephens Center.
ASO student tickets are available at any time to students of any age with valid student ID/proof of enrollment. Limit one student ticket per person. Student tickets are available by visiting the Alys Stephens Center Box Office; please contact the box office at 205-975-2787 for availability. Performances this season will highlight works by Bartók, Beethoven, Strauss, Shostakovich, Villa-Lobos, Mahler, Barber, Rachmaninoff, Bernstein, Bruckner and Tchaikovsky. Coming up are “A Gospel Symphony Celebration” and “Ruben Studdard Sings Luther Vandross,” both conducted by UAB Department of Music University Professor Henry Panion III, Ph.D. Featured are Handel’s Messiah Concert from Dec. 20-21 and “New Year’s Eve: A Viennese Celebration” on Dec. 31.
