The UAB Visual Arts Gallery will present an exhibition of works from New York-based artist Luba Lukova Oct. 5-Nov. 2, 2012. Lukova is a Bulgarian-born, New York-based artist who uses a deceptively simple design aesthetic to explore a wide range of complex political and social issues.
Lukova is a 2012 Jemison Visiting Artist for the UAB Department of Art and Art History. She will give a lecture about her work from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at the UAB Mary Culp Hulsey Recital Hall, 950 13th St. South. An opening reception for Lukova’s exhibition will then follow the lecture from 6-9 p.m. at the UAB Visual Arts Gallery, 900 13th St. South. The lecture and reception are free and open to the public.
The gallery is open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday. New hours are 12-4 p.m. Saturday. The gallery is closed on Sundays and holidays.
