Holocaust author Alexandra Zapruder set to speak at UAB on Nov. 7

Students and staff are invited to hear guest speaker, Alexandra Zapruder, discuss life during the Holocaust on Nov. 7.

Salvaged2Alexandra ZapruderThe Birmingham Holocaust Education Center in partnership with the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Department of History, Institute for Human Rights and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, will host author and editor Alexandra Zapruder on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. The free event will take place in the UAB Hill Student Center Ballrooms, located at 1400 University Blvd.

Zapruder will discuss her first book, “Salvaged Pages: Young Writers’ Diaries of the Holocaust,” and how young people experience traumatic events. She will explain how accounts of daily events, unexpected thoughts, ideas and feelings complicate our understanding of life during the Holocaust.
