UAB’s PRCA/PRSSA student-led chapter named Chapter of the Year

Communication Studies students bring home title as the PRCA/PRSSA Chapter of the Year.

PRCCA2This photo was taken in 2019 before COVID-19.The University of Alabama at Birmingham chapter of the Public Relations Council of Alabama/Public Relations Student Society of America has received the Bettie W. Hudgens Chapter of the Year award by the Public Relations Council of Alabama.

“This group of students is particularly focused and talented,” said Jacquelyn Shaia, J.D., Ph.D., assistant professor and director of the UAB Public Relations program. “They have worked unbelievably hard through some very trying and difficult circumstances this year. That hard work and focus was recognized by this nationally recognized group of public relations practitioners who reviewed their work and named UAB Chapter of the Year. These students competed for this honor against every other public relations program in Alabama. Chapter of the Year is a tremendous honor, and we are thrilled to receive this award.”

“Winning the Chapter of the Year award is a wonderful way to end a fulfilling year, and we are proud to be a part of the chapter’s legacy of excellence,” Tylicki said.

UAB PRCA/PRSSA is a student-led organization that offers extracurricular education and professional development to public relations students. Its student public relations firm, Creative Relations, provides public relations services to nonprofit organizations in the Birmingham area. This year marks the 35th time the UAB chapter has been awarded this honor in the past 38 years.
