Public Relations Student Society of America chapter at the University of Alabama at Birmingham has received the 2021 Public Relations Society of America Star Chapter Award. The PRSA Star Chapter Award recognizes the chapter’s outstanding programs and relationships with members.
The“This award recognizes our team’s professionalism and ethics, and I am proud of every member for their contributions,” said Eric-Lamar Burts, co-president of the UAB PRCA/PRSSA chapter.
“It is a tremendous achievement, and we are so humbled to receive this award.”
PRSA has more than 30,000 members, represented by 110 chapters. PRSSA has more than 7,000 student members, representing more than 300 chapters in the United States.
“This award represents these students’ hard work and commitment to excellence, during a particularly challenging 2020,” said Jacquelyn S. Shaia, J.D., Ph.D., faculty adviser of the chapter. “This award is easily recognized by professional public relations practitioners and is a strong addition to our students’ resumes as they enter careers in the field. The award is particularly meaningful in that it helps build the UAB chapter’s brand nationally.”
PRSSA membership gives students opportunities for internships, competitions, scholarships, awards and leadership. In addition, the organization connects students to thousands of public relations professionals and organizations for networking in the United States as well as globally.
