UAB’s Welcome Back Concert headlines Lil Jon, Grammy Award-winning rapper and Super Bowl performer

Previous artists include T-Pain in 2023, Weezer for the University’s 50th anniversary in 2019 and H.E.R for the 2018 Spring Concert.’s Division of Student Affairs, in conjunction with the Alys Stephens Center, will host Grammy Award-winning rapper and producer Lil Jon as the headline performer at the 2024 Welcome Back Concert.

Students will gather at Bartow Arena on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 6:30 p.m. to reunite with friends and enjoy great music. The concert is a part of Blazer Welcome, a four-week celebration at the beginning of the fall 2024 semester.  

For the last decade, the words “Yeah,” “OK” and “What” have been synonymous with Grammy award-winning artist Lil Jon. He has been one of the most prominent figures in music and pop culture, performing for hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide.

Widely known for his platinum-selling productions, Lil Jon has crafted groundbreaking hits for a diverse array of artists such as Usher, Ciara, Ice Cube and more. He has worked with will.i.am, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Bret Michaels, Travis Barker, Jennifer Lopez, Machine Gun Kelly and many more. Additionally, Lil Jon is credited with creating and popularizing the Southern movement known as Crunk.

Student tickets will be available during the following dates and times:

This year’s Welcome Back Concert is free for all UAB students. Attendees can reserve one free ticket and may purchase one guest ticket for $15. Students who reserve tickets must present a valid ONE Card at the box office. Please note that there are no reprints.

Attendees must also present their ONE Card with their ticket on the night of the concert. Both the student ticket and guest ticket must be scanned simultaneously at check-in. Gates for the event will open at 5:30 p.m. Seating inside Bartow Arena is general admission.

Faculty and staff members who wish to attend may purchase up to two tickets for $25 each.
