UAB President Carol Garrison along with Yogesh K. Vohra, Ph.D., Director of the Center for Nanoscale Materials and Biointegration, invite the public to a colloquium by Nobel Laureate Roald Hoffmann, Ph.D. at 11 a.m. Sept. 21.
Hoffmann, professor emeritus at Cornell University, will be presenting The Chemical Imagination at Work in Very Tight Places. The special colloquium will be held in the Reynolds-Kirschbaum Recital Hall at UAB’s Alys Stephens Center.
In 1981 Hoffmann won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He has written two books of poetry and a play about the origin of oxygen that has been translated into ten languages. His personal website welcomes you to the “land between chemistry, poetry and philosophy.” Hoffmann is a dynamic presenter who in the past has used a human PowerPoint presentation to get his message to the audience. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, as seating is limited to 168 people.
