Leading pain experts will converge on Birmingham for the University of Alabama at Birmingham 2012 Pain Research Symposium, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., March 27, 2012, at Children’s Harbor, 1600 6th Ave. South.
Internationally regarded pain researchers from University College, London, UCLA, the University of Iowa and the University of Florida will join with UAB’s pain research faculty for an in-depth look at basic science and clinical aspects of pain research.
The symposium derives from the Alliance for the Development and Advancement of Pain Treatment, a co-initiative of the UAB Department of Anesthesiology and the UAB Comprehensive Neuroscience Center. ADAPT was begun in 2011 to promote the health and well-being of the citizens of Alabama by fostering interdisciplinary pain research programs, providing a research infrastructure for scientists and clinicians interested in pain-related research, training and educating, recruitment of established scientists and clinicians, and promoting outreach.
