To commemorate National Donate Life Month, Lisa Bradshaw, author of Big Shoes: A Young Widowed Mother's Memoir, will sign copies of her book at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012 in UAB’s West Pavilion first floor.
She will share information about The DON'T WAIT Project® www.dontwaitproject.org, a nonprofit organization founded to help inspire people to live fulfilling lives, no matter the obstacles, and to highlight the need for organ donors. Big Shoes: A Young Widowed Mother’s Memoir is the story of Lisa and her husband Wesley. It chronicles their navigation of his mysterious illness, double lung transplant, and how she and their son ultimately had to prepare for a life without him. Wesley was a patient at UAB before his death and received his double lung transplant here. This is the first time Bradshaw has returned to UAB since her late husband’s death eight years ago.
