Dana Al-Farhan, a 20-year-old junior from the United Arab Emirates, has been selected as an outstanding youth honoree by the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute (BCRI). Al-Farhan, an international studies major with a double minor in Spanish and communications, organizes Students for Justice in Palestine and raises awareness about anti-migrant legislation. She will be honored during BCRI’s “Lessons of the Birmingham Movement: A Symposium on Youth, Activism and Struggle for Human Rights,” a weeklong gathering that will feature some of the country’s most prolific and outstanding civil rights activists and advocates.
