University of Alabama at Birmingham’s School of Nursing Master of Science in Nursing student and Nursing Graduate School Association president Chris Rhodes, BSN, R.N., has been named chair-elect of the American Nurses Association Nominations and Elections Committee for a two-year term.
Rhodes was selected for the position after receiving the most votes out of nine eligible candidates.
“Being awarded the opportunity to serve in this position with the American Nurses Association is a great honor for me, UAB and the state of Alabama,” Rhodes said.
The ANA is the only full-service professional organization representing the interests of the nation’s 3.4 million registered nurses through its constituent and state nurses associations and its organizational affiliates. The ANA advances the nursing profession by fostering high standards of nursing practice, promoting the rights of nurses in the workplace, projecting a positive and realistic view of nursing, and lobbying Congress and regulatory agencies on health care issues affecting nurses and the public.
Rhodes is actively involved in health care policy and currently works as a staff nurse in the Surgical ICU at UAB Hospital. He earned his bachelor’s degree in nursing from Clemson University in 2013. Rhodes is set to graduate from UAB’s Nursing Health Systems Administration master’s program in 2016.
