Interested in graphic design and its history? See “Graphic Means” at UAB Hill Student Center on March 7

“Graphic Means” documents graphic design production from the 1950s through the 1990s. The screening is free for all UAB ID holders, including students and employees.

A preview screening of “Graphic Means: A History of Graphic Design Production” is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

The College of Arts and SciencesDepartment of Art and Art History has partnered with AIGA B’ham and Design Week Birmingham to screen the documentary, in the UAB Hill Student Center Alumni Theater. Following the movie, director and producer Briar Levit will speak about the project and take questions.

“Graphic Means” explores the changes that revolutionized graphic design production from the 1950s through the 1990s — from linecaster to photocomposition, from paste-up to PostScript. Learn more about the film at graphicmeans.com, see the trailer and view vintage gear on Instagram.

Admission is free to all UAB ID holders, including students and employees. General admission is $5. Online registration is open now and will end at 5 p.m. the day of the event. Attendees may also register at the door. UAB Hill Student Center directions and parking information are online.
