The U.S. Department of State awarded Grace Benton a critical languages scholarship to study Arabic in either the Middle East or North Africa this summer. Benton, who majors in international studies, Spanish and Arabic, is a University Honors Scholar.
Benton, from Newburg, Md., will receive group-based, intensive language instruction and cultural enrichment for seven to 10 weeks. After graduation in May she plans to complete a master’s degree in Arab studies at Georgetown University and then develop programs to promote understanding between the West and Arab worlds.
