Birmingham community invited to learn how to better handle finances

Financial experts will provide complimentary consultations at financial education conference.

money jar 2018Guests will learn to plan and secure their financial futures at the free University of Alabama at Birmingham Regions Institute Financial Education Conference on Saturday, March 3, at the DoubleTree Hotel (808 20th St. South, Birmingham, AL 35205). The expo will feature a variety of activities to enhance personal finance skills.

“Experts will be on hand to consult with attendees on best practices and questions regarding financial success,” said Stephanie Yates, Ph.D., professor in the UAB Collat School of Business. “We are encouraging the Birmingham community to take advantage of this free event by letting our experts help you analyze where your finances stand and how you can take control of areas that need help.”

One-on-one workshops include FAFSA filing, credit consulting, VITA tax preparation, career counseling, financial planning, entrepreneurship best practices and financial aspects of home ownership. Exhibitors offering financial services will be on hand, as well as an assortment of vendors. Popcorn, cotton candy and storytelling will be available for children.
