Pain affects more Americans than diabetes, heart disease and cancer combined, according to the National Institutes of Health.
The University of Alabama at Birmingham will begin hosting a public lecture series on the topic of pain, PAINTalks. The series will feature leading experts in the field and focus on the latest research and treatment for the relief and management of chronic pain. The free lecture series kicks off Thursday, Oct. 25, at 5 p.m. at the Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts, 1221 10th Ave. South. The lecture series is sponsored by the UAB College of Arts and Sciences Department of Psychology.
