The “I Am” project, featuring four original works, is inspired by the struggle for civil rights. Ballet Memphis is the guest company-in-residence for the 2018 Alabama Dance Festival.
Featured classes include a kids’ clay class, acting sampler class for teens, blues/folk harmonica, visual arts, and Latin dance for adults.
More than 1,500 students will graduate this fall, including 83 who will receive the university’s highest degrees. An estimated 700 will walk in the commencement ceremony.

Vishwadha Gunda, a sophomore majoring in public health, was awarded a $2,500 scholarship, and also won the Talent award for her Bollywood-style dance performance.
Sophomore Mira Walker will represent Alabama in the Southern Division MTNA Competition in January. Fellow piano students Eamon Griffith and Jacob Skiles won honorable mentions.
