National Association of Composers concert will include works, performances by UAB Music faculty

Department of Music composer William Price wrote two works on the program. The UAB Chamber Trio featuring faculty Denise Gainey, James Zingara and Christopher Steele is among the performers.

UAB composer and Associate Professor of Music William Price, DMA, wrote two works in the program. The UAB Chamber Trio, featuring Denise Gainey, DMA, James Zingara, DMA, and Christopher Steele, DMA, will perform Price’s “I Don’t Want to Dance,” and pianist Adam Bowles will perform Price’s “Petite Scherzo.” Price teaches music theory and composition at UAB.

The program will include “Sonata No. 1: Antithetical References” for solo piano by Mississippi University for Women Assistant Professor of Music Valentin Bogdan; “Traveling Down a Lonely Road” for solo tuba by MUW Assistant Professor of Music Joe L. Alexander; a work for baritone and fixed media by Atlanta-based composer David R. Peoples titled “Amendment XII”; “Three Pieces for Solo Piano” by Tennessee State University Professor of Music Olga Harris; a fixed-media piece, “Poetic Soundscapes,” by Mississippi composer Ken Davies; “Pulse of the Fallen” by MUW student composer Kevin Carroll, “3=1” and “Inhale” for fixed media by Richard Montalto; and “Purple Nokh A Mol” for tuba by University of Montevallo department chair Alan Goldspiel.
