Hoesley researches the usage of microbicides in the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and HIV.

In his role as senior associate dean for undergraduate medical education, Hoesley is well versed in the key initiatives and news from the School of Medicine, including physician shortages, access to care issues, and medical education.

Hoesley is the UAB site leader for the NIH-funded Microbicide Trials Network and serves as chair for the University Hospital Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee.
