UAB Callahan Eye opened Feb. 1 in Homewood, Alabama, with its newest provider, John Owen, M.D., who has practiced in the Homewood area for more than 15 years. The clinic, which is in the Regions Building at One Independence Plaza, Suite 700, is the 19th clinic location in Callahan’s growing portfolio of ophthalmic and optometric care.
“We are always looking to provide convenient access to care for our patients, and we are excited about this new clinic, which is in the heart of Homewood,” said Rett Grover, UAB Callahan Eye’s chief executive officer. “‘Over the mountain’ residents will now be able to receive the same expert eye care they expect from Callahan without leaving the city center. We are confident that, with his experience and expertise, Dr. Owen will be a valuable addition as he continues to provide expert eye care and build relationships in the Homewood community as he has for the last 15 years.”
The Homewood clinic offers patients access to comprehensive eye care specialists and includes an on-site optical store. Patients who visit the clinic will receive services including family eye care, eye exams, cataract evaluations, glaucoma screenings, cornea diagnosis and treatment, and contact lens evaluations. All Callahan patients are also eligible to receive a minimum 15 percent discount on all sunglasses and eyeglasses.
“Callahan has a wonderful team of eye care specialists, and I am thrilled to join this enhanced continuity of care in an expanded network of services,” Owen said. “I look forward to continuing to serve my patients in the Homewood area as part of the growing Callahan team.”
