The third annual Run for the Health of It, a fundraiser of Equal Access Birmingham, has a Halloween theme. The 5K run is 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, at Rushton Park on Highland Ave. The run features prizes for fastest runners by age group and for best costume. There will be free food for runners and a DJ. There will also be a Kid's Fun Zone for ages 5-12 with face painting, relay races and Halloween games so parents can leave their children in this secure area while they run.
Cost is $20 for students, $25 for non-students and $10 for kids. Proceeds benefit Equal Access Birmingham, a non-profit organization run by UAB medical students committed to providing health care to underserved populations in the Birmingham area.
